Our Founders

Martha’s Vineyard Made was born of a demonstrated want and need of Island artisans to share their artistry beyond the shores of the island. Moreover, patrons of the goods that are represented have sought to purchase them on the mainland from their favorite retailers.

Our founders strive to create a platform to represent island artisanal goods has spanned the last three years as we have navigated the playing field. We are proud to put the ball in motion and open this site for the growth of this collaborative.

Heidi Feldman

Heidi is co-owner of Down Island Farm (2003) with husband, Curtis Friedman. They launched Martha’s Vineyard Sea Salt (2013) in the Vineyard community where importance is placed on local, sustainable, and quality foods and products. MV Sea Salt comprised of Atlantic Ocean water dried by the power of the sun. In their process and business, Heidi and Curt have nurtured relationships with fellow farmers, artisans, consumers and retailers who, in turn, share their hopes of expanding their sales, sharing with friends, and reaching more customers.

Rachel Austin Baumrin

Owner and Designer of Austin Designs, established 2001, has lived in and off the island since 1974 and joined the artisans market and festivals in the fall of 2013 after a long career in the building trades as a fine interior painter. Reacquainting herself with her artwork, she left after her college years, she has made her work as an artisan a full time position and strives to create a network for artists and foodies to share their creativity with people who enjoy and appreciate beautifully curated goods.
